Leaving Split on the catamaran.
To Blato to visit the ethnographic collection at Barilo house.
Figs macerating in alcohol to produce a delicious liquore.
Vela Luka means large harbour: certainly justified.
Difficult to imagine that 20,000 years ago we'd be looking at a valley leading too the Adriatic plain...
... with the sea perhaps a glimmer on the horizon.
20,000 years ago, the level of the ground was at least 11meters lower than it is now. Archaeologists dig through 20,000 years of sediment revealing how people used and occupied the cave throughout time.
Seismic activity probably caused the roof to fall around 11,000 years ago.
The sediment level on which rocks from the roof landed help date the fall.
