En-route to Vela Luka.
23 pupils from Blato Elementary school took part in ArchaeoLink's Dig-In work-shop.
This activity helps with vocabulary and understanding roles.
Little was found in the middle of the football pitch...
... lots of finds came from near the wall.
Found, carfeully wrapped in a plastic wallet, this piece of antler was once someone's treasure.
Context records are carefully kept.
Several butchered bones were found.
Experienced students from Vela Luka came to assist.
Presentations were prepared ...
... and made.
Congratulations !
Vela Spila silently awaits its summer visitors.
New mosaics support Vela Luka's claim to the longest mosaic in Europe.
Partly hidden by undergrowth...
... is the crumbling remains of a press.
26 pupils from Blato High school dug 6 test-pits over two days.
The soil was carefully sieved and school chalk and bones were found.
A copper container and many pieces of glass and pottery provided material for discussion.
Several test-pits reached bed-rock.
Presentations were prepared ...
... and certificates were presented.
