These scorfa are a result of interbreeding between the wild and the domestic.
Legambiente have created a trail around the lake with several points of interest.
Several stone huts, believed to date from the Neolithic are found along the track ...
a couple are well preserved...

Nearby is a more recent rectangular, pitched roof hut...

The highest point in the Nebrodi, Portella Miraglia, is 1500m.
Cesaro', near Troina also dominates the valley.
